Rather dramatic in my opinion. I have always been a glass-half-full person and I believe that we will end the season comfortably in mid-table.

Cast your mind back over a few of the games this season, not least against the 3 of the Big 4 we've played:

ManU - could and should have won the game, lost to a wonder strike from Nani.

Arsenal - lost, but could and should have drawn had we taken some of the glorious chances we had, including THREE one-on-one chances.

Liverpool - 2-1 up until the 92nd minute, could and should have won.

Fulham - drew 3-3 after absolutely shitting all over them and succumbing to yet another deflected goal (have you noticed how every deflection goes in against us, instead of in to the 20th row of the stand?) and a ridiculous overhead kick that 999 times out of a thousand wouldn't go anywhere near the top corner of the goal.

Middlesborough - a turgid game maybe, but we were 1-0 up and let in YET ANOTHER screamer in to the top corner. Things like that you can't legislate for and I thought we were very unlucky not to win and for the first time this season we didn't look remotely like conceding a late goal.

I'm sure there are other examples, but if you add up the points that have slipped away in those listed above and allow for a little better luck in coming games, I'd say we should pick up more than enough points to steer well clear of the drop zone.

There are some dire teams in the division this year and even if Levy and Co have shot themselves in the foot they still haven't done enough to hole us below the water line. In the immortal words of Yazz, the only way is up, baby, for you and me now.

Well written Dan! We are indeed miles apart from top 4. On current form, I can't see us overtaking Blackburn, Man City, Newcash, Villa, Everton at any stage of this season. I will be happy to finish in the top half of the table with Inter-twoblob Cup giving us the backdoor to Europe next season.

I felt exactly the same way after watching the Scum-United match - that some of the play on show was other-worldly. That 2nd United goal... if we ever scored one with that kind of movement I'd be foaming at the mouth.
